FinTech

I know what I do not quite know - finance, technology, and FinTech, particularly in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) context. So when I noted there was a free one-day FinTech Conference, I registered, not knowing if I could attend it. Today happened to be a perfect day for me to get some knowledge transfer from the FinTech incumbents.

My specific objective was to update my domain knowledge on AI, blockchain-tokens and their application in businesses. Expectation was inflated when I spoke about them in 2017; and incumbents must be feeling the trough of disillusionment now. I just wanted to see if I could develop some actionable insights in the intellectual property context.

I learned about the interface among the blockchain cum AI technological landscape, data contents reflecting customer behaviours and value delivery in the financial sectors. To capitalize on FinTech, there is the need to innovate internally, partner strategically and invest in or acquire others smartly. Or, the business would be displaced.

It is understandable that the Conference did not address the protection of the technological knowhow, the tech-enabled database and the domain name or brand. I was however pleased to hear the prediction that the next wave should be tech-based solutions to the capital market. That has been my vision to trade intellectual property globally!
