Design Thinking

FADE IN.

INT. STUDY - DAY

PETER works behind his computer.

PETER (V.O.)

As my mind is fresh,

let me design the

blueprint for Hong

Kong's revival from

the IP perspective.

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)

I'd like to share value

by help develop one's

IP vision, define one's

IP mission and plan

one's IP strategy.

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I'm result-oriented. Let

me design my focused

website now.

Peter clicks an icon of his computer screen.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

As usual, I'll use the

AI-assisted design mode.

I know my requirements

and my ideas.

In filling in a blank, Peter types "IP Strategy Know-how". He then types and types, and edits and edits.

Peter replaces some template photos by mining some from his computer disks.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I just want to state my

concept before beefing

it up eg how to materialize

it.

Peter clicks: Publish.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

But the mark of my

platform is too long.

Ding! Peter sees a notification.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Even so, someone has

searched something along

the line. Still, I want to

change it to a simpler one.

How about "IP22" - IP Easy,

Easy in Cantonese?

Having replaced all the marks with "IP22" on the screen, Peter looks pleased.

INT. BUSINESS SCHOOL, HKUST - DAY

Buffet lunch setting. In the background is a slide with words "Design Thinking". Peter helps himself to a cup of chocolate at the bar.

PETER (V.O.)

I come here to show

support and hear what

the entrepreneurs have

to share. I need to

understand their problems

so that I can explore

the solutions before

suggesting how to materialize

them.

Smart phone in hand, Peter searches "IP22" and then looks surprised.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Oh, it means Ingress

Protection, Code 22.

I need to change my

design thinking.

Peter surfs the web again.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Other marks that I like

eg IP Strat for IP Strategy,

IP Sense etc have all

been taken. I've to think

again!

INT. SWIMMING POOL - NIGHT

Peters gets into the pool.

PETER (V.O.)

Let me see if I can think

differently in water.

Peter swims frog style leisurely.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Yes, I may avoid using

"ip" as the dominant part

of the mark.

Later, Peter looks pleased.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I'll use "iccdpm" as the

mark; "cdpm" stand for

Copyright, Designs,

Patents and Marks, and

"Ic" is for Integrated

Circuits. So the mark

sounds like "I see

cdpm". No one would

have come up with an

acronym like that!

Inside the changing room, Peter searches with his phone by typing "iccdpm". We see the search result: "International Conference on Computational Discovery in Pure Mathematics".

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

(Shaking his head sideways)

In designing, I've learned

from I-don't-know-what-I

don't-know, to I-know-what

I-don't-know.

EXT. ROAD - NIGHT

After crossing the traffic lights, Peter surfs the web with his phone.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Good! I coined the term

years ago. It was so

visionary that it hasn't been

taken yet! Great, I'll use the

mark to launch my focused

website in 2020!

Peter smiles.
